download (4)In today’s busy world, it is easy to get overwhelmed by details.

Fortunately, you can use small business apps to help automate quite a few tasks in your life and your business, freeing you up for the big picture.

Things such as backing up and syncing files, new contacts, calendars and appointments, and even special location based profiles are all available.

Cloud Based Storage In An App

By now, you have heard of such cloud-based back up options as Dropbox, Google Drive, Evernote, and iCloud for your computer. But all of these are also available on your phone as small business apps.

You can sync files you are working on your computer and continue to review or edit them on your phone when away from the office; those edits, perhaps made over a business lunch or meeting, will be reflected on your computer when you get back, enabling you to continue working on your ideas.

Organize Creatively With Small Business Apps

If you go to any trade show or event and meet and network with new people, you can end up with a lot business cards and new contacts.

However, manually entering in all that information can be time consuming.

Fortunately, there are several small business apps for Android and iPhone, such as CamCard or ABBYY, available that allow you to take a picture of the card and create a new contact with all the relevant information.

No More Embarrassing Interruptions

For a meeting (or a movie or class), a ringing phone can be quite disruptive as many people forget to silence their phones.

Fortunately, there’s an app for that: AutoSilent for iPhones and Silent Time for Android.

These small business apps monitor your calendar for appointments and can silence your phone during the appointment and return it to ring or vibrate afterwards. Even better, special numbers can be whitelisted so that you can still be reached by a few people in case of an emergency.

Expanding on the silence app above is another app called Llama App, which adds location based profiles.

Instead of using GPS, it looks at nearby transmission towers to allow you assign ‘office’ or ‘home’ profiles, where you can set it to auto-enable wifi, play music when connected to speakers, or be silent during certain times, such as when you are sleeping.
